Bars below provide access to Drawings

Textual Chapters & Pictorials

Note: The reader has not reached the end of the frame for this chapter until he encounters a horizontally, rather than vertically, oriented navigation bar.

Buttons below provide access to Sections of a web site (MDMweb), but the navigation bars are mostly inoperative. If any of this material is of interest to a reader, then go to the web site. This was, and still is, part of another web site and there is too much work involved to just do away with it.

Fig. c18t3P26: This area of an adventitial myxofibroblastoma is fibrous. Cells are loosely, and irregularly, spaced in the fibrous matrix. Some of the cells are individually outlined by coarse, more brightly acidophilic fibers in reticular patterns. The nucleus of at least one of the small tumor cells contains an acidophilic inclusion of cytoplasm (just to left of center of the field).

Fig. c18t3P27: In this fibrous area, the nuclei of the tumor cells have pale chromatin patterns, and central, acidophilic nucleoli. Brightly acidophilic reticular fibers are present among, and partially outline some, of the tumor cells.

Fig. c7t3P28: The matrix is homogeneously fibrous. Individual tumor cells and small clusters of tumor cells are present in defects or lacunae. Some of the lacunae are outlined by brightly acidophilic reticular fibers.

Fig. c7t3P29: The matrix is fibrous. Tumor cells are individually isolated.

Fig. c7t3P30: In this fibrous portion, tumor cells are individually isolated in a pale fibrous matrix. Distinctive vessels with fibrous walls are clustered near the center, and to the right of the center of the field. These distinctive vessels are an aid in the characteriztion of this pattern as a regional variation in the category of adventitial myxofibroblastoma.

Fig. c7t3P31: In this myxomatous area, cells are loosely spaced in a myxoid matrix. Small vessels and dilated vessels are represented. The wall of the vessel just above the center of the field is myxoid, but thickened (blue arrows). Tumor cells are isolated in this ill-defined wall. In evaluating the variable patterns, it is tempting to propose that the myxoid zones are sequentially related to the fibrous component.
